HEAR, HERE

Say: While we’re waiting, we’re going to play a game. Silently close your eyes. No peeking! While you’re sitting here, turn on your best listening ears.

Now, I want you to listen closely for three distinct sounds you can identify. When you can identify the three sounds, let me know without making a sound! (If your children need examples on how to do this, tell them they can raise their hand or give you a thumbs up once they’ve identified the sounds.)

Once your children have identified the three sounds, tell them it’s time to open their eyes.

Say: Great job! Now, share what you heard. (Depending on where you are, answers could include silverware on plates, people tacking, the cash register, etc.)

Say: You were a great listener! You know who’s a great listener, too? Jesus. When we have a personal relationship with Jesus, we can share anything with Him. He’s always ready to listen to our fears, sadnesses and worries. He’s the best friend we could ever have!
